In Iceland, the resort zone was closed due to the threat of volcanic eruption - PHOTO

The famous "Golubaya Laguna" geothermal resort area located on the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland has been temporarily closed for the past few days due to the earthquakes that occurred in the southwest of the country.

In the last 24 hours alone, about 1400 earthquakes occurred in that area. As a result, vacationers were forced to leave the local resort by taxi in panic.

The fact is that earthquakes have triggered the accumulation of magma underground, and if the magma rises to the surface of the earth, it will immediately cause a volcanic eruption.

At least three such incidents have occurred in the past two years, but all were in uninhabited areas. That is why the Golubaya Laguna administration decided to close the resort at least until November 16.
